What do I need to do before I sell my smartphone to Newaya?
Here are four super important things to do before you sell your iPhone, Android, Blackberry, or Windows smartphone. (This applies whether you’re selling your phone to Newaya or anyone else!)
1. Back-up your phone
There’s always something that you’ve forgotten to transfer from your old smartphone your new one. You remember it right after you erase all of the information on your old phone. Blah! Make a back-up of your old phone so this doesn’t happen! On your iPhone, we recommend using iTunes’ built-in backup solution. On an Android phone, we recommend Titanium Backup!
2. Erase your phone’s data
Your smartphone has all of your friends’ contact information, private personal and work emails, pictures, and a plethora of other things that you don’t want people to see. Once you’ve done a full back-up of your old smartphone so that your data won’t get lost, do a complete erase and wipe of the phone. In the future we will be putting How-To-Erase videos on YouTube that show you how to wipe different phone models. For now, do a Google Search for “How to wipe XXX phone model”.
3. Erase your phone’s memory card
Many newer smartphones come with removable MicroSD memory cards. Make sure that you’ve erased this card as well before putting your old smartphone out into the world!
4. Remove your SIM card
SIM cards hold information about your phone number and the account that you have with your cellular carrier (AT&T, T-Mobile, etc.). You’ll probably need your old SIM card to use with your new phone, but even if you don’t, it’s a good thing to hold on to.
Once you’ve completed these steps, you’re ready to sell your smartphone!
